From Skate Canada to All Coaches Dear Skate Canada Coach, If you have not yet completed the Make Ethical Decisions (MED) on-line evaluation module and would like to register as a coach for the 2009-10 season, please note the following important information. To activate and have access to the MED on-line evaluation module, you must first request a password from the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC). This can be obtained in two ways. Firstly, you can email coach@coach.ca with your CC# and request a password. Due to the current volume of requests, this is usually turned around within 24 hours but can sometimes take up to three days. Secondly, you can call the CAC at 613-235-5000. Upon hearing the automated attendant, you must press 0 to reach the reception desk during business hours of 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Eastern Time, Monday to Friday. At this point you can either ask to be directed to the database department or leave a message for the database department. Messages are directed to the first available database staff member. Upon contacting CAC either by email or phone, you will receive your password via email. Once you have your password you may log directly into the evaluation. Please note the user name is your NCCP CC#. The link to the online evaluation is http://nccpeval.coach.ca/production/med/e/index.asp?Language=English. Please note that traffic on CAC’s site has been very high with coaches completing their evaluation, so you may prefer trying to complete your evaluation during non-peak hours of the day (early morning or later in the evening). There is a pre-evaluation which coaches can access to get a feel for how the actual process works. Please remember that the on-line evaluation is not a training module, rather an evaluation on a decision making process to help you work through situations that are ethical or legal in nature. While it is not mandatory, you may wish to pursue the three hour training module titled “Making Ethical Decisions” if you have not previously taken the integrated CanSkate training or the Part A Competition-Introduction workshop. This is available as a face to face workshop or by home study through the NCCP Provincial Territorial Coaching Representatives. Contact information for the Provincial Territorial Coaching Representatives can be found at http://www.coach.ca/eng/links/ptcc.cfm Best regards, Skate Canada Coaching & Skating Programs Department
